Saturation is the most this water could hold if it were in equilibrium with the air. Why the curve falls. Gas solubility drops as temperature rises. Water at 80°F cannot hold what the same water held at 50°F, whatever lives in it. That is why a summer warm spell and a fish kill turn up in the same week, and why the cold layer at the bottom of a stratified lake — perfect temperature, no resupply from the surface since spring — can be the emptiest water in it.

Work from the mouth of an arm inward. The secondary point inside the arm is often better than the main-lake point outside it.

Drowned trees, fence lines, roadbeds, foundations and bridges left in place when the valley was filled.
